Academic Tuition

Being a student-athlete is a challenging yet highly rewarding pursuit, which is why we have in-house academic tuition to provide tailored support to our athletes, so they can succeed on and off the hill.

Location and Facilities

Athletes will continue their home school education whilst on camp, supported by our highly experienced lead tutor Julie Deer. Wherever we are in the world, we ensure athletes have a quiet environment to focus on studying, have access to free WIFI and a printer/scanner. Our tutor has access to all major exam board resources, textbooks and past papers. On busier weeks we have the resources to increase the number of tutors as required.

Duration

The objective is for each athlete to receive 15-hours per week of tuition, ideally broken down into 3-hours per day Monday-Friday. Around major competitions, particularly for FIS athletes who are commonly racing during the week, flexibility in this schedule ensures they can perform on race day whilst still striving to achieve our academic objectives.

Preparation

Prior to any camp our tutors are on hand to support athletes’ and parents in gathering work for the coming weeks that they will be absent from school. Once on camp, our tutors will hold a short meeting with each athlete to construct a weekly planner and understand any deadlines, mocks or exams which the athletes may be working towards.

Reporting

Tutors keep track of work completed throughout the camp and send a brief report back to parents (and schools where requested).
